Following today’s announcement of an extended lockdown in metropolitan Melbourne until September 2nd, SportsFit Physio & Health, as deemed an essential service, will continue to remain open for limited services. Here is an update on what services we are currently providing and some of the common questions we have been receiving from clients.
Are there any further restrictions on the services you can provide?
No. As with the current lockdown, we are still able to provide on-site services for essential medical care* and will continue to provide telehealth services for Physiotherapy, Dietitian & Nutrition and Group Exercise (including Clinical Exercise and GLAD programs).
What services are you providing on-site?
We are continuing to provide on-site (face-to-face) services for physiotherapy, podiatry and hand therapy for essential medical care and where telehealth is not appropriate.
What is essential medical care?
The criteria for essential medical care is:
- A delay in treatment would result in increased pain and reduced function (ability to perform your everyday tasks);
- A delay in treatment would increase your recovery time or increase your frequency of care (you requiring more treatment to get better);
- A delay in treatment would result in an increase in use of prescription medication;
- Services/rehabilitation required immediately after surgery that will aid recovery and prevent complication.

Will you open the same days and hours?
We will remain open from Monday- Saturday (closed Sunday), but our available times may vary during lockdown.
Will you run all your regular group exercise classes on-line?

How do I book an appointment?
To make an appointment for any of our services, the best way is to call us on (03) 8840 8066. Currently our online booking is limited and will not be showing all available times- so if you cannot find a time or day that is suitable we encourage you to call us.
Who will answer our calls or emails?
Our awesome admin team is still working from home and is available to take your calls, enquires and emails during this time- so you will be able to speak with a real person.
Do I need a permit to attend on-site?
No, the government has not stated that you require a permit, and attending medical care is one of the valid reasons you are able to leave the home. We do encourage you to keep your appointment reminder email on you at all times as proof of evidence you are attending a medical appointment.
