07 May Snow sports assessment
Why get a snow sports assessment?
With winter around the corner, it’s not long now until the start of the snow season. If you plan on tackling the slopes this season, remember getting ready to ski or snowboard starts well before finding your gloves and getting in the car. Skiing and snowboarding both require strength, flexibility, balance and endurance. Making sure you’re prepared this snow season can help:
-Reduce your risk of injury
-Improve your performance on the slopes
-Keep you on the slopes for longer
Who does your assessment?
At SportsFit we have the snow sport expert Jessie Mayo (APA Titled Sports & Exercise Physiotherapist). Jessie is a highly experienced physio who has worked with the Australian Aerial and Mogul Ski Teams and was a a physiotherapist at the last Winter Olympics.
What does a snow sports assessment involve?
This 60 minute assessment includes:
- History screening- to understand your snow sports background, level, injury history and goals this season
- Musculoskeletal screening- testing your flexibility, strength, balance and function, as this will help determine specific exercises your body requires
- Tailored exercise program and advice targeting your individual body to help you achieve your goals
- Ski boot education
You will be given the tools to help prepare for the upcoming season. For people who want more supervised exercise programs, you can also then continue on with our Clinical Exercise classes.
What do I bring or wear?
As you will be tested for flexibility and strength, bring along clothing that allows you to move freely. If you are coming from work, we do have rooms for you to change in.
If you would like some education on your ski boots then bring them along also.
How do I book?
Bookings can be made online under physiotherapy services and clicking on ‘Snow Sports Screening’ or calling our friendly reception team.
