We excited to have superstar physio Seb Evans in the SportsFit team.
Graduating from the University of Melbourne with both a Doctor of Physiotherapy and a Bachelor of Science, he has gained experience working in private practices and with sporting teams (Oakleigh Chargers in 2018, AFL International Cup in 2017). Seb is passionate about injury prevention and utilizing strength and conditioning principles to guide appropriate exercise-based rehabilitation. He has has gained significant exposure to managing sports injuries and helping guide return to play. In particular his role as the Head Physiotherapist for the Oakleigh Chargers Youth Girls program, helped develop a strong passion and knowledge in rehabilitating adolescent sports injuries and low back & hip/pelvic injuries.
As well as sporting injuries, Seb has also worked extensively with patients experiencing persistent back, neck, hip and knee pain, and is a certified GLA:D practitioner for hip and knee osteoarthritis (read further HERE about GLA:D).
Seb also works at LaTrobe University in a research capacity which enables him to stay on top of the latest developments in assessment and treatment techniques. He has completed further professional development including courses for Sports Physiotherapy, Spinal Physiotherapy, Muscle Injury Management and Strength & Conditioning.
Outside of work his passions included football and travel. He is a handy footballer himself, currently still playing with Old Wesley Collegians Football Club (VAFA A Grade) and having spent a season with Port Melbourne in the VFL. If not playing he will be cheering on St Kilda in the AFL.
Seb is consulting at SportsFit on Monday and Wednesday evenings; Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday mornings. On a Monday evening during Spring/Summer he is also providing onsite Physio care to the AFL 9’s in Glen Iris.
