What is it?

It is the provision of physiotherapy services remotely via telecommunications (computer, telephone).

For clients or practitioners that are unable to attend the clinic, our highly experienced physiotherapists will be able to communicate to a client through a video call using a computer or phone.

What can an online physio do?

Help accurately diagnose your injury

Directly talk to you, getting a thorough history and understanding of your injury or goals

View and use objective tests to see how you move and understand exactly where your symptoms are and what's causing them

Screen-share vital information to you directly

Prescribe education and advice on how to best manage pain and injury

Provide exercise programs targeting your goals

Supervise and review your exercises and programs

Offer appropriate referral when required eg. Xrays, MRI, US

What do I need for an appointment?

You need either a computer, tablet or phone which has both video and audio capabilities and connected to the internet.

Ideally have a quiet space with some room to move.

What specific services do you offer?

Online Physio (Telehealth) 30 minute consult:

  • Initial assessments to help diagnose any injury and musculoskeletal condition
  • Review assessments 
  • Review and assess work ergonomics (at home or worksite)
  • Prescribe exercise programs and review exercises

Online Clinical Exercise (Telehealth) 45 minute private class:

  • Supervised and individualised exercise programs
  • This is ideal for people continuing Clinical Exercise, Rehabilitation, Pilates, Personal training program

  • Any clients that are not be able to, or significantly limited to attend the clinic
  • People with significant pain, muscle or joint injuries
  • People that want to be able to see and talk to a trusted health professional

FAQs

Can I claim this under private health?

 

You will need check with your individual health fund. Certain health funds will cover online physio from Tuesday 14th April subject to certain conditions. This includes:

  • The customer is undergoing an existing course of treatment and the customer has seen the physiotherapist over the past six months, or
  • For new patients, the tele-physiotherapy service has been recommended by their general practitioner or relevant medical specialist, and
  • The primary condition being treated is one of:
    • Post orthopaedic surgery rehabilitation (e.g. Total hip or knee replacement)
    • Chronic musculoskeletal condition (e.g. osteoarthritis)
    • Cardiac rehabilitation
    • Pulmonary rehabilitation, or
    • pelvic floor muscle training,

 

What are the costs?

 

$60 for a 30min Physio consult

$70 for a 45min 1:1 Clinical Exercise consult

 

How can you diagnose without face-face and touching?

 

Our highly experienced practitioners through the use of clinical reasoning, thorough questioning and observing you move will be able to provide an accurate diagnosis.  Evidence has shown Telehealth consults are just as accurate as face-face consults.

 

How do physiotherapists treat without touching?

 

Traditionally physiotherapists have utilised hands-on techniques to help clients recover and rehabilitate. However in the majority of cases education and exercise is the best medicine, and this is something we can easily deliver via Telehealth.

 

How do I pay?

 

Currently we are taking payments over the phone or can process payments via a HICAPS Go App (for clients that have this), and we will email your invoice to you.
